The naked branches
watching strangers break the ice
covered in snowflakes
The pine trees shiver
as freezing wind rushes past
and thick snow pours down
Children are playing
racing around, sledding down
lovely window view

Snow outside the window

The fortune cookie said understand, but I cannot read...
Sometimes I look up at the sky
And mistake the stars for your eyes
Sometimes I cry
Little tears
So I won’t drown
It hasn’t really been that long
But the mountain is just so high
And time doesn’t wait for me
I wish you could tell me how it is
If it’s cold and lonely
Only I can’t hear you
The wind blows
The leaves rustle
I can’t hear you anymore

The Lizard Tree
While cradled in the Nicaraguan crafted hammock
I lay suspended and swaying in the sweet gentle breeze
Just below lizards raced around the tree roots
They scurried around and above me,
rustling through the leaves
Some leaped from branch to branch
Others sat still in the sun
inflating their throats like crimson balloons
As lizards enjoyed their jungle gym
I lay in my tree swing, swinging
